Delaware Office of Highway Safety, J.J. Yeley, & Front Row Motorsports Team Up to Drive Sober & Arrive Alive

Dover – The Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) has teamed up with Front Row Motorsports (FRM) and NASCAR Sprint Cup Driver J.J. Yeley for the October NASCAR race weekend at the Monster Mile to remind fans to Drive Sober and Arrive Alive.  Yeley will be promoting the Drive Sober message all race weekend (Sept 30-Oct 2) with OHS at various events and activities including a Designated Driver Contest, dirt track racing at Airport Speedway, autograph sessions at the Monster Mile Fan Zone, t-shirt giveaways, and while driving the # 38 Drive Sober. Arrive Alive DE Ford at Dover International Speedway on Sunday, October 2nd.

“OHS is very excited to partner with J.J and Front Row Motorsports to promote the Drive Sober message,” said Jana Simpler, Director of the Office of Highway Safety. “NASCAR is a very popular sport with lots of loyal fans and we think that promoting Designated Driving and a Drive Sober message with a NASCAR racing team will create more buzz among 18-34 year old males about driving sober and arriving alive.”

The J.J. Yeley Designated Driver contest was created as a way to say Thank You to all the fans for always designating a sober driver before going out or being the designated driver for their friends.  One lucky winner and their guest will receive a fantastic prize package courtesy of Star Coach Race Tours and J.J. Yeley which includes three night accommodations for two on a luxury motor coach bus in the infield of the Monster Mile for the upcoming October race.  Yeley will also offer driver services to the lucky winner and guest and become their “DD” Friday evening where Yeley will accompany them at local establishments to promote the Designated Driving message.

Other great Drive Sober race weekend activities include the OHS booth and exhibit in the Monster Mile Fan Zone all weekend long where Yeley will sign autographs and OHS staff will be giving out t-shirts and lanyards to those who can walk a straight line wearing the DUI goggles that simulate impairment.  Saturday night, October 1st includes some good ole’ dirt track racing at Airport Speedway in New Castle where J.J. Yeley will sign autographs, give out t-shirts to those who take the Designated Driving pledge, and interact with fans before getting ready to race the Drive Sober micro sprint car.  Fans can also get their picture taken with Yeley next to the DUIRealTime.com limo and enter into a drawing for a free 3 hour limo ride gift certificate provided by Racing Limos of Dover.

On Sunday October 2nd Yeley will debut the # 38 Drive Sober. Arrive Alive DE Ford with FRM in the ‘AAA 400’ NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.   The partnership between OHS and J.J. Yeley began at the Dover May race where Yeley was a guest speaker at the 10th Anniversary kick off of the Click It or Ticket campaign to promote seat belt use.

“Teaming up with J.J. last May to promote the Click It or Ticket campaign in the Fan Zone was a great opportunity and we were so happy to have so many fans stop by to say hi and tell us their seat belt stories,” said Alison Kirk, Community Relations Officer for OHS. “So when J.J. and Front Row Motorsports approached us about partnering up to promote Designated Driving and the Driver Sober Arrive Alive message we were very excited to expand on race weekend activities and really get the fans involved.”

The Designated Driver contest is open to everyone ages 21 years or older and entries will be accepted until Thursday September 22nd.  To enter go to www.JJismyDD.com and complete the online entry form and make sure to include why you always designated a sober driver before you go out or why you are the designated driver for your friends. The winner will be announced on Friday September 23rd on OHS Facebook page www.facebook.com/ArriveAliveDE.
