Tennessee Department of Health
In 2002, The Tennessee Department of Health were challenged with a small fiscal budget to promote a state wide program called "Control Your Diabetes For Life." Faced with these financial constraints, the Department of Health were searching for opportunities that would provide them with state wide exposure and best bang for their buck.
Alliance Sport Marketing worked with the Department of Health in promoting the state-wide program with 8 minor league baseball teams in Tennessee.
The "Control Your Diabetes For Life" program's purpose was to remind fans that there are ways to help prevent diabetes, including a healthy, active lifestyle.
In each ballpark, public address announcements were made during every game, providing healthy active lifestyle choices, as well as health and diabetes statistics.
Teams provided the Department of Health various stadium signage opportunities in each ballpark, which included the "Control Your Diabetes For Life" logo and state website address.
The program's centerpiece included 80,000 softee baseballs, which carried the "Control Your Diabetes For Life" message. These softee baseballs grabbed immediate attention of the fans between innings, as hundreds of softee baseballs were tossed into the stands. This promotion quickly became a fan favorite, and provided long lasting retention and focus to the program to a captive baseball audience.
