Tennessee Beef Industry Council
The Tennessee Beef Industry Council teamed up with the Nashville Sounds in 2007 to promote a July Beef Month. In 2008, the program was expanded to include the Chattanooga Lookouts and Memphis Redbirds.
From May 1 to July 31, fans registered both online and in stadium for a chance to win a 32" Stainless Steel Grill, embossed with the Sounds and Beef logos. Thousands of entries were received, with a grand total of 3,561 individual households registered.
During the month of July, Fans were encouraged to bring in a local grocery receipt showing a $10 or more beef purchase. Fans who did received two (2) complimentary general admission tickets to any Sunday-Thursday home game in July. Fans were notified about the promotion through two (2) :30 second radio commercials on every team broadcast. A total of 172 commercials were broadcast.
In addition, the promotion was recognized through 172 :10 second live radio drop-ins during each game’s broadcast. During every Nashville Sounds home game, two (2) :15 public address announcements were read to fans inside the stadium, for a total of 86 announcements, along with a scoreboard message.
Beginning May 7th, July Beef Month was promoted on the weekly e-mail newsletter SOUNDS NOTES, which was distributed to over 8,500 recepients, for a total of 13 e-mail blasts.
July Beef Month was also included on the Nashville Sounds frontpage (www.nashvillesounds.com) in the form of a rotating web banner. The July Beef Month Ticket promotion received 138,474 views and 781 clicks.
During July, 274 receipts were turned into the Nashville Sounds box office, totaling over $4,500 in beef sales from local grocers. In all, 622 complimentary tickets were given away through the July Beef Month program.
